Healthy Journey – Day One!

Goal: Healthy feeling and Weight loss – clean eating! gluten free if possible!
How? Sleeping schedule, 2-3 Green thickies a day, gym 3-5 times a week. WALK EVERY DAY
So, in order to have said breakfast I needed to put myself on a sleeping schedule. Set my alarm this morning for 10am (safe time in case I went out the night before).

Weight: 149 lbs  Inches: 40.5 inches

Today is day one on my journey to a healthy body which in turn is a lighter body 🙂
I started with having a sleep schedule, getting up at 10am and trying for 8 hours. Well, at 2am last night I was still awake and couldnt get to sleep. So, when my alarm went off at 10am..I snoozed. Good start, right? Got up at 11:30 though? haha

I made my Green Thickie. Last week that I was drinking them they were way more green and there was way more of it. Whereas this week it was way lighter and there is probably enough for another serving. My only idea is that I used fresh baby spinach instead of frozen chopped spinach. Still tasted good though !

Basic Thickie Recipe
2 Cups water or dairy free milk
2 cups of leafy greens
2-4 fruit or cups of fruits depending on how creamy the fruit is or how thick or filling I want the smoothie to be.  Just experiment.
1 Cup of oats

My recipe until I move (given from Katherine from Green Thickie website)
2 Cups almond breeze unsweetened
2 cups of leafy spinich
2 bananas
1 Cup of cooking oats

I woke up to a whole bunch of snow this morning, so taking a run to my car stuck* at a skytrain station wasn’t on my list. So I walked it, still a good 20 minute walk and just over 80 calories.  Might be a tad bit more because I couldn’t find a decent iPhone app. What app do you use? I wish I wasn’t such a baby and walked to the skytrain months ago. I also wish I had my proper pedometer watch. It’s on my to-do list.

Had a late “lunch”, the rest of my thickie. I guess from my non-movement day yesterday (seriously – laptops and beds are bad combos), today was a big today because I took a nap. **TIP** DO NOT TAKE A NAP. I didn’t go to my Zumba class like I said I was going to. I’m going to try to just JUMP OUT OF BED when my alarm goes off. Maybe this will help with morning workouts and darn naps. I’m glad I got my walk in, better than nothing?

For dinner I threw a bunch of vegetables in frying pan, threw some eggs and coconut milk. My uncle sent me some fresh non-farmed salmon so I threw in one filet of that (already cooked just needed to be reheated). I’m pretty sure I got full right after taking this photo, but I still had room for dessert hehe I quickly threw some dark chocolate, peanut butter and granola (not too sure how good granola is for yea but…) in a mug after I melted the chocolate and voila! Clean Eating and Quick Cooking wooo

IMG_2652[1]IMG_2653[1]Let’s hope for a more productive day tomorrow! Not going to “start over” so have a cheeseburger because I didn’t have 100% healthy, amazing day..every day counts!!!

Thailand Trip

I didn’t really know where to start on my first entry (lots of topics but how to start writing, actually). So, I will start what is on my mind probably 24/7 lately.

♥Thailand♥

In March, I will be going on my first solo international trip to Thailand with Free and Easy. I went to Europe in high school with classmates, I have been to Vegas with friends, all over Canada and Hawaii with family. But this. This is solo.

In a nutshell, my trip is all over Thailand starting and ending in Bangkok for 40 days. FORTY. But, there is an extension for just over $500 to add the Thai New Years Extension also to your trip. But, hopefully, I will make a few friends that want to go experience it when they realize they do not want to go home quite yet. Therefore, I twisted my own arm and booked my trip to include the Thailand New Year. That’s right…I am going to Thailand from February 28th to April 19th. If I don’t meet anyone..well you’ll find me at the beach!

I have it all fully paid, VISA is in the works, and I am moving back to Nanaimo (ugh) with all my stuff by next weekend. Just working on my flight.

Free and Easy gives you the option of booking the trip and not having to worry about the flight, or for, in my case, $1300 cheaper you can book the flight on your own. Being my “its a good deal” father’s daughter, I know I can get a flight cheaper than that. However, it is getting quite frustrating and so tiring trying to figure out: what time, which airport, how to get there, what price…

I just keep thinking of the end result.
Image To keep myself organized (and to make you jealous of course hehe), I will be going through my itinerary soon and listing all the highlights that the trip includes: such as the hammock design that comes with the trip and that I had to choose which design I wanted, here she is:

ImageI will have an extra week or so of exploring, any recommendations?

Tomorrow is (yet again) the beginning!

On top of “start a blog” as my New Years Resoulutions of 2013, another one is to be healthy.

No, I don’t want to be on a diet, been there done that numerous times

No, I don’t want to stop eating an entire bag of chips (’cause I don’t do that).

 Health wise Resolutions:

1) drink a green thickie twice a day (breakfast and lunch)

2) have a “clean” dinner.

3) exercise more, but enjoy it!

 *1*

Whether in my employed or unemployed days, I don’t eat breakfast. I also catch myself not eating, one or more meals a day (my ex-boyfriend actually told me I hadn’t eaten an entire weekend!). Like today, its 5pm and.. nothing.

The only reason: I forget. I’m working all day, doing errands, organizing something, multiple plans, etc. Not healthy AT ALL. And no, you don’t lose weight, ladies. Because, the next meal or the next day or whenever I eat next I am SO hungry all of a sudden. I am a social person, so when I got to go out for dinner, my mouth was always bigger than my stomach. I would get an appie and dinner, and not finishing dinner. Spending lots of money and eating lots of calories.

I originally lost a lot of weight doing SlimFast early in highschool. I drank a shake for breakfast in the a.m. before school, ate one of their meal replacement bars for lunch, and my mom always makes sensible dinners. However, after about a year of doing this, my body got used to it and I hit a plateau. I gained 10lbs back, too.

I figure if I started taking care of myself and becoming healthy, the weight loss would just be a bonus. The shake was a good way for me to have a quick, healthy breakfast so, after lots and lots of research, I found out about Green Thickies. This lady, Katherine, built on them from her Green Smoothie invention by adding oats and leafy greens to make them a meal replacement. This sounded great: super good for you, super easy to make, actually inexpensive, something you can be on for a week or years and you still gain the benefits, and, of course, DOABLE.

Any and all information regarding starting Green Thickies can be found here

Her story here

Her website is fabulous. Lots of recipes, lots of information, lots of links. I have asked for help both on her website and her facebook (she has Pinterest, too!) and 24-48 hours later got an answer! I even did it “wrong” for the first week, and felt better already.

I am not posting a fat photo haha BUT I will post my weight and inches and, maybe every week, post my observations/results. It’s going to be super hectic with moving next week and boredom (the number one healthy killer) being back in Nanaimo. But, I figure if I can do my best with the thickies, clean eating and exercising in the chaos with the goal of 24-7 bikini wear in Thailand…then when I come back, get a new job, settle down, build a menu/food budget, get a routine etc etc, everything will just get better and better!

Introduction

Image

Well, as 2013 has started I have decided to start BLOGGING! This resolution to blog is one in itself, but also to combine my Pinterest and Facebook and life all in one place. This is for me, but I am hoping that it will be for you too!

This will where I post things that I don’t want on Facebook, or want to expand on. This will be where my Pinterest Posts come alive -recipes I’ve tried, sites I love, tips and tricks and everything in between that I want to share with whoever is listening! I have become very health focused, so recipes and health tips and my journey to become happy in my skin will also be included. I am going to Thailand in March (not soon enough!) and that journey will be posted here too!

I want to express myself and though there are millions of blogs out there now, this one is for me.

Any tips and tricks and sites that you know and want to share to help my blog journey, please do! I am a pretty organized person and used to “code” my MySpace account (ages me, I know) so I hope that my blogging adventure becomes a huge happy part of my life.

Cheers to my adventure, and thank you for reading!
